The event offered an international stage to SPOON’s work. During the panel “From the Right to Adequate Food to Community Welfare”, the City of Turin and the Rete delle Case del Quartiere presented the experience of SpoonTO, Turin’s Citizen Science Lab.
Their message was clear: food challenges are best tackled together. Through SpoonTO, citizens, community organisations and local stakeholders reflect side by side on food access, healthy and sustainable diets, food waste prevention and community-based approaches to food systems.
The Turin story found strong echoes in experiences presented by speakers from other countries. Different contexts, shared challenges: food security, social inclusion and the transition to sustainable food systems emerged as common ground, along with a wealth of community-driven responses.
For SPOON, the panel opened new doors for dialogue well beyond the project, with institutions, civil society organisations and community actors. It also showed what citizen science does best: bringing local action into the global debate on food, community welfare and resilience.
